Our Approach to Web Design in Eugene

Wondering how we work with you to create a website? Not sure you’ve done enough research or understand the options that are available to you? Not sure if you need a simple brochure website or a fully functional web store? Here’s a description of how our web development process works. You’ll see how closely you, the client, are guided through the process and given both guidance and control while we create a dazzling, mobile-friendly website for your business.

Phase 1 – The Discovery Session

The website process starts with an interview. We sit down with you, in person whenever possible, and talk about who you are, what you do, and what you want in your website. We want to be able to accurately describe your business and represent your company culture. While we talk, we’ll ask you a series of questions to find out what you are looking for – even if you don’t know what that is yet. We’ll also talk about visual design, layouts, logos, and all of our marketing options.

Phase 2 – The Mock Up

Once we have a feeling for what you want, one of our designers will sit down and begin to conceptualize your design – sometimes they start with a computer, sometimes by hand. After some thinking, exploring, sketching, and refining, the designer will create a mock up. This mock up is a general outline of how the site will look without all the content filled in. We will then present the mock up to you, the client. If for any reason you aren’t thrilled with the design, we’ll make another one, free of charge. Once you’ve selected exactly what you want, we’ll move on building the more detailed aspects of your site.

Phase 3 – The Design

In this phase, the project is handed over to a programmer. With a head full of HTML, CSS, Javascript, browser compatibility, optimization techniques, and search engine knowledge, our programmer will turn the mock up into a fully functional website. Menus will be brought to life, the design will be optimized for screen sizes, mouse behaviors, and more. We’ll spare you the nerdy details, like knowing when to use relative or absolute CSS positioning techniques, and move on to the end product of this phase: a nearly complete, fully functional website. You will be able to view your website in the browser of your choice, and get a true feel for your working site.

Phase 4 – The Content

With the website nearly complete, it’s time to put in the final touches. During this phase, we will present and guide you through your website so you can review and add any additional features you want. If you want to include any additional pages or services, now is the time to let us know. Once you have provided us with all of your requests, we will get to work making it happen to prepare for the launch.

Phase 5 – The Launch

Once the new content is in place, we’ll stress test, proofread, and triple-check the website for perfection. On the final day, we’ll ceremoniously launch your website onto the World Wide Web where it can be seen by the world. If you like, we’ll also post it to our portfolio, which benefits both of us.
